Frequently Asked Questions
Understanding The Experience
Spur’n Up Hope is a nonprofit equine assisted learning program where participants engage in guided, ground-based experiences with horses. Through these experiences, people build confidence, strengthen communication, and learn skills they can carry into everyday life.
Equine assisted learning is a hands-on approach where people learn through interaction and experience rather than instruction alone.
Horses respond honestly in the moment. That response helps participants become more aware of how they communicate, how they respond, and how they connect.
Participants do not just talk about growth. They experience it.
Horses are highly aware of their environment and respond to what is happening in real time.
They do not respond to words alone. They respond to behavior, energy, and consistency.
That creates feedback that is immediate, honest, and often easier to understand than words.
What To Expect
Participants work with the horse teachers on the ground in guided activities.
A session may include:
Guided groundwork
Obstacle-based exercises
Communication and boundary work
Team or partner activities

Common Questions
That is more common than most people expect.
Participants are not pushed beyond their comfort level. They move at their own pace with support.
That is okay.
This is not a talk-based environment. The experience itself often creates awareness without pressure to share.
No.
Spur’n Up Hope provides equine assisted learning, not therapy. The focus is on growth, awareness, and life skills through experience.
Faith is part of the foundation of Spur’n Up Hope, but participation does not require any specific beliefs.
People from different backgrounds are welcome.
If someone is open to a hands-on, experience-based approach, this may be a good fit.
If someone is looking for horseback riding or a clinical therapy model, this may not be the right program.
